We know
that there is a simple reason why our
camps have continued to be successful
throughout the year; our commitment is to
each individual player. Campers divide
into leagues by age and ability, then are
placed on a team with their own coach for
the entirety of camp. Each day starts with
Team Organization where we cover
individual offense, ball handling,
passing, shooting, layups, team defense
and team offense. After that there will
always be a Lecture/Breakdown session by
one of the Rice staff members covering a
certain aspect of the game, and then a
'breakdown' session with their individual
coach.
Games
are a blast! Everyone plays the same
amount of time because of our timed
substitution pattern. We stress team
offense, team defense and 'carry over' of
skills that were covered earlier in camp.
Every day we have some sort of Individual
Competition to make sure that the day ends
up fun and with lots of competition. We
also have daily Stations where campers
rotate from basket to basket working on a
different skill with a different camp
coach.
Our
Camp Awards include the one-on-one
championship, hot shot, best defensive
player, best hustler, most improved player
and most valuable player in each league.
And while individuals win honors we always
stress that "teams win championships."
Learn to play as a teammate and value
teamwork!

GUARD
CLINIC
Saturday (Only), 9am-4pm
**Revised 2/25/08**
Grades 2-12 Cost: $80
First
Presbyterian July 26
Our
goal at Guard Camp is to build solid
habits of play; habits that translate to
details that make all the difference. We
begin with triple threat (ready to shoot,
drive and pass) and emphasize that
position throughout the 9 hours of camp.
We concentrate on shooting technique,
proper footwork on lay-ups, game passing,
pivoting out of trouble, good screening
fundamentals that lead to team play, ball
handling that leads to game execution and
fast break fundamentals. We play games of
3-on-3 “Cut Throat” to carry over our
practice to play. Guard Camp is 9 hours of
moving, listening, executing and repeating
great basketball habits.
